Mining activities of Şişecam Group started with the establishment of Glass Industry in Turkey in 1932. First Silica Sand was produced in Yalıköy, then called Podima, near İstanbul on the Black Sea Coast.

In 1988 all the mining activities of the group which was seen as strategic and kept under Group’s control, were combined and Camiş Madencilik A.Ş. was formed.

The main participants in the company formation which had a capital of 12 MilyarTL.were:

Milestones

1989 Construction of new line at Yalıköy Plant for Silica Sand.

	1994 Start of construction of a 750.000 ton/year capacity plant in Mersin Region for Silica Sand production.

1996 Modernization and Capacity Increase of Fine Grinding Plant in Çayırova/Gebze.

	1998 Establishment of Camiş Egypt Ltd.

1999 First raw material production outside Turkey. Construction of a 150.000 Ton/year capacity Grinding Plant in Mersin.

	2001 Start of construction of a Silica Sand Plant in Kurucaşile/Bartın. Quality Management System Certificate received.

2003 Quality Management System Certificate renewed.

2004
Start up of a Sand Preparation Plant designed by Camiş in Balahna/Russia

	2005 Start of construction of a new Silica Sand Preparation and Grinding Plant in Bilecik.
